In a recent survey, 36% of folks listed Fall as their favorite season, with 31% favoring Summer, 22% Spring, and 11% Winter. It comes as no surprise, then, that many visitors have requested Hidden Hollow Cottage for time after Labor Day. Warm, lazy Indian Summer days are followed by cool, peaceful evenings. The sun is lower in the horizon and its rays sparkle off the water like diamonds. Swimming in September and October is still an option, particularly on the Bayside which stays warm for a longer period of time. Labor Day and Columbus Day are perfect holidays for a long weekend getaway.
The Boston Ivy turns bright red, the locust leaves turn yellow, even the flora along the marsh becomes a vibrant blend of purples, greens, and reds. The crowds are light, the restaurants and shops are open, the fishing is superb and the weather is incredible.
There are several wonderful Fall Festivals on Cape Cod. The Cranberry Festival, Wellfleet Oysterfest, the Turnip Fest, and don’t think about missing the Truro Dump Dance. Go antiquing along Route 6A. Visit a Cranberry Bog at harvest or a pumpkin patch. Bike along the Cape Cod Rail Trail amidst the vibrant fall foliage.
As the leaves begin to fall, the cottage's view of Cape Cod Bay, Lieutenant Island and Jeremy Point comes to life. So whether you have a weekend, a week or a month to escape this Fall, Winter or Spring, spend it at Hidden Hollow Cottage. We are certain you'll return home refreshed.
